Watch Box in Quarter Sawn White Oak and Spalted Pecan

This is not your ordinary mass produced watch box. Each of my watch boxes are custom made by me, one by one, by selecting complimenting wood species, giving each piece it’s own unique look.

The main body of the box is built from Quarter Sawn White Oak wood, an American hardwood with distinctive “flecking” or rays noticeable within the grain. It has American Walnut miter splines which gives the box strength an contrast. The lid and box bottom are Spalted Pecan wood. This wood is beautiful. It was cut from the sapwood and has distinctive light to dark tones. The lid of this box features a semi-through hole and a rectangular pull, also made from American Walnut wood. The interior of the box walls are lined with Curly Maple wood, a domestic hardwood that has ripples in the grain that give a three dimensional look.

The interior box bottom is lined with a blue and white Japanese Tenugui cloth in the Asa-No-Ha pattern. This geometric pattern is representative of a hemp leaf, symbolic of growth and good health.

The box is finished with a hand rubbed, durable natural oil and wax blend, free of toxins and VOC’s, that leaves a beautiful sheen with a pleasing natural touch to the wood.

The watch is not included, however a light yellowish-brown burlap watch pillow is.
